The many adventures of Watkins and Karen

Sorry it has been so long to post. Many things have happened since I got Watkins. As you can tell my dogs name is Watkins from the race car litter. The first day I had him everything went well. Tuesday we headed to the park and Watkins had to got to the bathroom. I had him do in obedience to go to the bathroom and he didn't have enough leash, so I decided to roll into the grass from the sidewalk and my chair fell forward. Luckily Katie was right behind me and was able to help hold me back while Michelle (the trainer) rolled me back. My left and right big toe was killing me. I decided since I was in so much pain I need to go to the hospital for xrays. After they took xrays the nurse said it looked like a fracture on my right foot above the big toe. When the xrays were taken it was too late for them to get checked, so I will find out for sure what my xrays say on Monday. Right now both feet are wrapped in ace bandages and the pain has gone down some. Wednesday, I was bathrooming Watkins with a bungee leash and since he is a puller he popped my seat belt off! Then decided to take a little walk down the street. I remembered Michelle saying not to freak out and to call him with a happy voice. I was surprised when he returned to me. Today, we worked on kid distractions because he LOVES children! We did some what well but we will need more work on that. If you want to see me get the dog and other training there is video on youtube.com (key words Alex's friend Karen) I have seen many personalities of Shocker in Watkins and I am in love with him already!

Day One

It was a tiring day. They worked me harder than I remember when I got Shocker. I found out they had puppies Friday night, the mom is a first time mother and is protective. Hopefully we will get to see them next week. Tomorrow I will get my new puppy!!!!!!! I can't WAIT!!!!!!!

I'm off to see the wizard

Today has been crazy. Mom took the van to get washed and vacuumed for my trip. When I went to get in the van for pt the door bar fell. The doors are automatic and to open you have to hit a button and then they open. Well at the car place they said they knew how to open those doors, apparently not. they bent the pin that holds the bar to the door. Mom and dad went back to the car wash place and gave them a piece of their mind and then had to drive 30 to the van shop to get a new pin for the door. Hopefully that is our last MAJOR adventure until some other day far in the future. So for now I am off and will hopefully add posts while I am there. As Tigger states: Ta Ta for now.

Ellen

I just watched Ellen and there was a yellow lab service dog and I am guessing maybe a seizure alert dog because it was a border collie(?). Ellen talked to them a minute at the beginning of the show. The service dog's name was Ben and he drooled a lot. and the other dog's name was Larry and when they stood up he did too. Ellen got a kick out of that.

Kitchen update

Sorry its been a long time since a kitchen update. Lots have happened. All that is left is to tile the floors and put the appliances in. In my dad's room it just needs carpet. They are also going to do the laundry room and the half bath that is in the laundry room. All that is happening there is a new water heater, painted, tiled and a new vanity. Then the den gets painted and we will be done (to a point). Here are some pictures to enjoy.

Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone had a happy, safe, and fun 4th of July. Dad is doing well. Has had trouble sleeping so the doctor gave him sleeping pills for the short term. Is having trouble getting comfortable but it is getting better slowly. Tonight he noticed that he was getting edema in his feet so we will be watching that over the weekend but other than that he is doing great. I am stressing out because I need to make sure I get all I need to get done by Thursday done. Just a few things but Friday will be here before I know it.

Dad is home

Dad Friday morning in ICU

Dad holding his heart in his own room Friday afternoon

Just wanted to share these two pictures and show dad still had his humor during this surgery. He is home now. Had a rough night last night and couldn't get comfortable. He is moving slowly but not in to much pain. Just hurts to cough, sneeze and laugh(hasn't done that yet). He has an appointment tomorrow with the surgeon to see how things are going.
