Christmas at the Derx'

This is a long post of pictures and they are out of order. I will just tell what each picture is and you will see how crazy our Christmas was.
Mom sat next to me to help me open gifts and Watty also helped to at times. This is Mom opening her gift card from Ian so she can go buy more fabric.

Maynard enjoyed a rib after dinner from the roast. Watty didn't get a rib but he did get a human bite sized piece of the roast. I guess he liked it because he looked at me for another piece but I told him only on special occasions he gets ONE piece.

Mom laughing as she unfolds my snuggie. She was laughing because Ian and Justin burst out laughing that I got a snuggie. They had said that they talked about that infomercial the other day and wondered who would order that and it was a 30 minute infomercial. Hey it keeps me warm and I am usually wrapped up in a blanket during the winter so its perfect. I just wish I was the person who thought of it.

Ian after he rolled off the couch onto the floor in hysterics when I opened my snuggie.

Watty "helping" unfold the snuggie.

Watty wanted to try the snuggie and see what everyone was laughing at.

Me laughing at the whole situation.

Ian modeling my snuggie. Crazy brother(haha).

Justin and the Christmas underwear everyone seems to get at Christmas time.

Jessica watching Ian open his presents with Houdini in her lap.

Ian opening his "windshield wipers" which Justin wrapped money because Ian never said what specifics Justin needed to get the right ones.

Houdini protecting our gifts under the tree. He was also making sure no one opened any till Ian and Jessica arrived.

This picture is sideways sorry. This is Chip trying to stay out of the way. He got some duck treats for Christmas.

Watty opening his Hide a Bee. He ran around the house with it playing with it while we were opening presents. He even "stung" dad with a bee. The bee was falling out of his mouth and he used dad's back to help push it back in.

I think this is right before dad got "stung".

Every year dad plays Santa. This year he wore his Texas A&M Santa hat I got him last year.

Two of the fur babies enjoying Christmas. (l-r Watty 3 yrs old, Maynard 11 yrs old)

Houdini even got treats.

Christmas with kennel cough

Yes you read that right, kennel cough. Yesterday Watkins was in his kennel while I took a shower and as I was getting dressed he barked. After he barked he started coughing/gagging and hacking to where I thought he might stop breathing. A minute or two later he stopped and was fine. Well about 4:30 when the mailman came to the door he barked and it happened again. At that time I called the vet and made an appointment for today. Last night he did it one more time and also this morning. I took him to the vet and he is on "house arrest" unless I need him to go with me and medication. Also we get to have a humidifier going too. Watty loves to keep me jumping.

5 Months

Wow! I can't believe I have had Watkins 5 months already. We have gone through so much already and I know we have a lot more adventures in the future. After Shocker died and I had to wait it felt like Watkins would never arrive. Class was fun, adventurous, and emotional but having Watkins, Katie, and the KSDS staff there to guide our class through got me through. Once home that's when all the hard work started. We seemed to go backwards instead of forwards. We are working to get back to where we were. We are also trying to teach family and friends to be the alpha so Watkins knows who's boss. The day I got Watkins I was thinking I am going to have my hands full with this wild child. He is slowly settling down but I think its his personality to by wild and crazy. Watty has already been many places and been an angel. We have been to hockey games, the movies, went to see Santa, we even went to the Texas Renaissance Festival.Watkins and I the day we were paired

Snow in Houston, TX?

Yep you read correctly. We had snow. None stuck though. It snowed for about an hour. Watty and I even went to play in it. He wasn't to thrilled. He told me he has seen more in Kasas and this was NOT snow. *hahaha* Hopefully one day I will be able to play in the deep, stay on the ground, snow ball fight snow.

Hardheadedness

Watty is a mess. Yesterday we went to the mall to shop and see Santa. We were there from 3:30-9 doing Christmas shopping and waiting on pet night to start so Watty didn't get his daily nap in. He sure did let me know he needs it.*laughs* We were in one shop and he decided I needed a sweater and pulled the pile of 3 down, comfort sleep now has dog beds and he wanted the stuffed dog that was on the bed, in Old Navy there was a red toy on the floor(I think it reminded him of the tomato at KSDS because I sure had his attention when it was in my hand) and he picked it up, then he decided at hallmark he needed a webkinz, during dinner he barked, and I also ran his paw over. I was so happy to be home and tired.

This morning my attendant, Olivia, was brushing and putting Watty's harness and halti on while I was doing message therapy. Well this is as far as she got with him while I was busy with massage. After massage he got his harness on. Olivia had put his halti on and was reaching to get his harness and he ran and grabbed his bowl and wouldn't budge.

A visit with M&M

Yesterday I went to visit Desi who has a 3 month old and a 2 year old. Watty did great and it was so cute because Watty would take Matthew's jacket or toy and I would tell him give because Matthew was pulling it. After I said give Matthew started saying give if Watty had something of his. I also had to say leave it a few times so then Matthew started helping me say that. Matthew also decided to give Watty a french fry which Desi jumped up and pulled it out of Watty's mouth. Its funny but also gross because Matthew still had it in his hand and after Desi pulled it out Matthew decided he wanted the french fry. Watty was so good with all of his antics. I love how Watty is so patient and loving with him. After this day I have decided I need a video camera because I would have loved to share what went on.

Birthday

Today has been a sort of a sad day. Today Shocker would have been 13. I have been thinking of her a lot today. It is kind of hard to not cry while I write this. What makes me not cry is all the amazing times I had with her and all the accomplishments Watkins and I have made over the past few months. I know Shocker would want me to think of Watkins now that she is gone and I know she is always with me. I will never forget her. Love you girl.
