What a Crazy Year

As I sit here 2 hours before 2011 I think back over the past year. What a ride...happy, sad, scary, exciting, frustrating and exciting. This time last year I would have never imagined the events that would happen. I had my first trip away from the family with just friends helping me out and had a blast. I visited Nashville and feel in love with it. My best friend moved down to help me out and we have been searching the whole year for an apartment but with no luck, so frustrating. I ended up in the hospital twice with gall bladder issues. First time surgery was called off and the second it was a success. My dad had surgery to have a pace maker placed and 2 months later was rushed to the hospital with endocarditis. He was on deaths door but God watched over him and he is back to "normal" after open heart surgery and 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. Justin has a house and a new truck. Ian just got engaged to his girlfriend of 8 years. Mom had some medical issues at the beginning of the year but have never been figured out. As I look to 2011 I am hopefull it is a better and fun year. Less of the scary, sad, and frustrating stuff...HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas Craziness

Christmas is just days away and so is the craziness. My brother and his girlfriend and my older brother and his two dogs are coming for the weekend. We will have Chip(sheltie). Watkins(lab). Penny(chihuahua), and Brutus(pit/Rhodesian mix) all inside the house. Chip is about 14 and almost blind, Penny is 7, Watkins is 5, and Brutus is 1. Watty and Brutus will have A LOT of play time outside to get energy out of both of them. Need the energy out so we don't have our Christmas tree falling over. We are hoping Watty will teach Brutus some manners. Shocker helped teach Justin's dog Maynard some manners so we are hopeful. I have a feeling I am going to be stressed and tired by this time next week.

I broke a rule...

Yep an unwritten rule! If you are in the Rascal Flatts fan club its an unwritten rule you are to dislike/hate anything relating to Lady Antebellum because they are in the same category at award shows as Rascal Flatts. I happen to like both groups and yes I do get upset when Lady A bets my favorite group but I still like them. Last night Jen, Watty, and I went to a Lady A concert and had a blast. Yep I am happy to announce I broke a STUPID rule! LMAO

Hospitals Suck!

Well between September and October my dad and I have been in a hospital. Dad went for 2.5 weeks in September because he had an infection in his heart and had to have open heart surgery. In October I ended up in the hospital for a week with my gall bladder. Had my gall bladder taken out this time. The doctors and nurses knew about my hospital experience in July and gave me a really good experience this time. It helped all the doctors were super nice, super cute, and funny. My pulmonologist referred me to these doctors so I have to give her credit. Dad is all better, done with his antibiotics and back to being his goofy self. Dad was even released to go back to work Monday and I think he is excited. I am well and back to my go go go self. Tonight Jen, Watty, and I have front row tickets to see Lady Antebellum and I cant wait. I am excited about Thanksgiving too because I get to meet my baby cousin Logan.

Swollen Face

Yesterday Watty looked like he had been punched in the face. After lunch I was in the room where my computer is and Watty was on the couch beside me. I had called his name and he didn't raise his head up so i started goofing of and he wagged his tail but wouldn't raise his head up. I finally said Watkins and he raised his head up and looked at me. When I saw his face I had Olivia come look at him to make sure I wasn't seeing things. We determine yes his face was swollen and I then decided to take him to the vet. His eyes almost were swollen shut and his ears were a little swollen. Once checked out we have decide he must have tried to pick up a wasp or bee because only one side of his mouth was swollen. He stayed the afternoon at the vet just to keep an eye on him. He is now on steroids and benadryl for a few days. When I got him back yesterday afternoon he looked so much better.

Busy Busy Busy

Last week Watty and I were busy bees. We had 4 concerts in 1 week. Saturday Oct 2 we saw Tracey Lawerance and Blake Shelton, Wednesday the country radio station had a free concert so Jen and I went and saw Billy Currington, Friday night Jen and I went to the House of Blues downtown and saw Joey & Rory, and the Saturday we went and saw Sugarland for Jen's birthday. I have already blogged about Tracey, Blake, and Billy earlier. Pictures of Joey & Rory and Sugarland will have to be added later.

When we were allowed in to the theater we noticed it was a small room. It turned out to be awesome because there were about 30-50 people there and it was an acoustic set. An intimate setting and the way they did the show was cool. They told us how they met and fell in love and married. As they did this they added songs so it was as they were telling a story of their life through song. Afterwords they did a meet and greet and pictures with all who came to the show. When it was our turn Joey got down on Watty's level to give him some love and he kissed her like crazy. Rory bent down to pet Watty and Watty kissed him on the mouth. They both laughed and got a big kick out of Watty. A few months ago their yellow lab passed away unexpectedly. Can't wait to go to another concert of theirs.
Saturday was Sugarland concert. I got Jen tickets to the concert for her birthday. She was super shocked when I told her we were going. Randy Montana and Little Big Town were their opening act. This was both Jen and I first time seeing Sugarland in concert. Their concert is energy packed and crazy. Watty kept trying to watch but where we were he couldn't. There were people in front of us and they were standing up. If they sat down he possible could have seen but that wasn't the case. We all had a blast that night.

Discovery Green

On our way to the Texas Bass Classic we heard an add on the radio for an event at Discovery Green hosted by 93Q radio. On Wednesday Carrie Underwood was in town for a concert and Billy Currington is her opening act. 93Q was having an up close and personal event at the downtown park Discovery Green and they opened it up to anyone who wanted to come. Since it was a FREE acoustic set Jen and I jumped at the chance. We decided since the weather was nice we would also have a picnic and let Watty play in the dog park that was there after the set. We sat up at the stage and it was a good idea because as soon as Billy came out everyone stood up and came to the stage. I have noticed that every SRO I have been to if I am a few people back from the stage the artist finds me and looks at me...alot! I mentioned this to Jen and she told me I am easy to spot in a crowd and artists find a few people in a crowd to "sing to." I guess I am easy to spot since I raise my chair up :P Billy sang 5 songs and answered questions from Tim Tutle and Cactus Jack. After the performance we took Watty to the dog park but that didn't last long. There was a dog in there that was kind of aggressive so we decided not to let Watty play in there.

For some reason we girls giggle when we catch tongue pictures. Guess its just one of those goofy things to make us laugh.

Texas Bass Classic

This is my second time at the bass classic. This year it was in a different place and was more accessible for wheelchairs. The set up for the concert was ok. I would have liked to be more center of the stage instead of far left of the stage. Jen and I still had fun. As we were walking up to the gate there were a ton of Harleys lined up. We thought this bike was cool and loved the trailer on it. The two artists we went to see were Tracey Lawerance and Blake Shelton. They both put on a great show.
As soon as the guitarist from Tracey's band did a solo watch jumped up and stared at the big screen in front of us. He so wanted to watch the concert but the gates had a covering over them so he couldn't.

DAD

I miss my dad. He has been in the hospital 2 weeks this Monday. I thank God that he went to the hospital when he did. The past few months he hadn't felt well and had a pacemaker put in because his heart rate was very low. After that he was suppose to get better but he kept feeling bad. When he went in for his month check up they did blood work and found he had an infection even though he had no outer signs of an infection. Two weeks ago it got to the point dad was shaking like he was having a seizure but he was just really cold. Come to find out he had an infection around his heart where they did valve replacement 2 years ago. When they went in the valve was basically just sitting there barely attached. They replaced the valve and took out the pace maker because they didn't wanna chance that getting infected too. Yesterday they put a new pace maker in and will hopefully be coming home Monday! He has had a few minor set backs along the way but is doing much better. Yes I am a daddies girl and I cant wait to have him back home.

Road Trip

On 9/11 Jen and I headed up to Ft Worth to see Kellie Pickler at Billy Bob's and then visit with my cousin Shannon. When we got to Ft Worth the hotel we had made reservations at didn't have a room for us. At 5:30 in the evening we had to hunt for a hotel in our budget. We were hoping to find one before we had to be at Billy Bob's. At 8pm we still had not found a hotel. We decided we would search for a hotel after the show because we needed to get to the venue. They did not let us go to our seats till about 9 and we found out where are seats were. We had awesome seats! During the show Watty stayed under the table we were at until about the last few songs when we let him lay at the end of the table. Of course he didn't lay down because he loves to watch the concerts we go to. I think Kellie is Watty's new crush. He followed her everywhere she went on stage. He even "danced" to her song Red High Heels. After the concert we headed to look for a hotel. We headed in the direction of Shannon's house and luckily found a hotel at 2:30 in the morning. The next morning we headed to Shannon's and we spent a few hours there. Watty even got to play with Luke who is Shannon's black lab.

Drinking Beer & Wastin' Bullets

Luke Bryan came to Houston in July; Jen and I decided we would go and see this cutie. We love his music. We decided to go early because we didn't know how they did these concerts at the race track. We watch the horses races that started at 4 pm. After watching a race or two we decided to ask someone about how they were going to get me to where the stage was. The customer service manager came and talked to us and told us what to do. Around 7:30 we headed to the gate to line up to get to the stage. A security guy came and said they would let me go first and give me time to get settled before the crowd was let in. As we were waiting we were talking to the girls in line around us. I noticed a guy in an orange shirt walk by us and all of a sudden one of the girls stated that Luke just walked by us. At that moment Jen turned around as he was climbing the fence and looked back at us. All of us were like OMG! Then the security guy came and got us and we headed to the stage. We ended up about center stage and about 6 ft from the stage! This concert was a standing room only show and I didn't know how Watty was going to react. Luckily we had a handful of great people around us that we chatted with before the concert and during the concert they helped watch out for Watty. There was one guy that loved Watty and protected Watty and I with his life. He was so sweet.

At the end of the show Luke jumped off the stage and shook hands and signed autographs to the people around us. After Luke past us a security guard asked if he said hi to me and he didn't. The security guard brought him back and I got to meet Luke. He asked if I had got a guitar pick, when I said no he sent one of the crew back to get me one. Luke handed me a pick. Once Luke headed back and we were about to leave his drummer jumped off the stage with a handful of drumsticks. He handed me a drumstick he had used that night. It is all beat up. That was a night I will never forget so much fun!!!
